RACE AROUND WALES(TRIAL EVENT) JULY 23/24IMPORTANT NEWS + RIDER & CREW ANNOUNCEMENTwww.youtube.com/watch?v=ulPkBh1o_1QATTENTION GRABBERWith our "Race Around Wales" Trial Event just a month away, here's an example of a rolling rider exchange. This could have been even faster with better rider communication. THE IMPORTANT BIT:-We'll be holding a simulation session for both riders and crew on Saturday 16 July. Our team of 8 riders will be split into two pods of 4, each pod with their own support crew. I only need 2 hours of your time which will be used to simulate rider exchanges over a 30 mile route. This will sort out any bugs before we tackle the 512 miles just a week later. PLEASE put this date in your diary - it's vitally important we get a 100% turnout. So proud that our small club (with the grateful help of individuals from outside the club), is able to put together 8 riders and 10 support crew for this event. The Steve Prescott Foundation will be running a 4 person team and are the current record holders for the Race Around Europe. Their aim is to cover this demanding route in just 24 hrs at an average speed of 22 mph. They also have a very experienced support crew which has done Race Across America a number of times. This trial is a NON competitive event and I just want our team to set a benchmark time and to enjoy this unique cycling experience. After saying that, I'm confident that our team will keep the SPF Team VERY "honest"!! 😄RIDERS (Pod Placement to be determined in July)Simon Williams (Capt)Mark Davies Emma Wheeler Jason Morgan Steve Glynn Steven Griffiths Aled Davies A N OtherFOLLOW CAR CREWSRED PODWyn Jenkins & Dewi ThomasMette Duffy & Dominic DuffyBLUE PODAndrew Anthony & Tony WilliamsMarianne Rhys & Martin RichmondMINIBUS CREWSarah Rees & Phil DaviesMEDIA CREW & RAW ENFORCEMENTMarg Jenkins Liv MuggletonPlus three savage dogs!!Wyn ... We can head back via the flat(ish) road through Llandybie or head uphill to Penygroes. Either way, nothing too arduous with plenty of time and energy to chat.See you tomorrow.Wyn 👍 ... KIT ORDERGood to see so many members proudly wearing our new club jersey and wind jackets. They certainly stand out on the road and create a stunning visual identity for the club. With new members seemingly joining us weekly, I’ve been asked when our next delivery can be expected. I’ve had a chat with the sales team at Primal and they’re happy to take an order for as low as 5 items but the cost to the club will be more attractive if we can order more than that. I seem to be wearing my club jersey on almost every ride and will be ordering another set. I’m pretty sure others will wish to do so as well. Some members were a tad optimistic when going through the sizing exercise last October and have found themselves with jersey’s that aren’t fitting comfortably. If these HAVEN’T been worn and you would like to order another size, then please let me know so that the original jersey can be allocated to someone else. If everyone can let me know asap of their requirements, I can get an order to Primal at the end of this month. Please reply via our WhatsApp Club Group please? Wyn ... See MoreSee Less

***COMMUNITY RIDE SATURDAY 4 JUNE***********LLANDOVERY RUGBY CLUB 1.00PM****Bynea CC have kindly invited us to join them for a social ride from Llandovery to Llynne Brianne Reservoir this coming Saturday. As a club they have a tradition of spending this particular weekend in Llandovery running two Time Trials over the weekend. For the benefit of those not riding the fast events, they also hold a social ride on Saturday afternoons and this year they are inviting other clubs to join them. The ride starts from the Rugby Club caravan site at 1.00pm and obviously we can start our ride anywhere we like before joining them. As a club we've been discussing the merits of having community rides where clubs take turns in hosting a ride. This invitation from Bynea fits perfectly with that way of thinking. This ride will replace our usual Sunday ride, so please make every effort to support this kind invitation. Please indicate below whether you can make it and if so, where you plan to ride from. I'll probably drive to Llandovery and start from there.Wyn ... See MoreSee Less
